Dying Light 2 postponed on Switch, coming later this year

Techland is taking gamers back to the zombie-infested world of Dying Light, but prospective Nintendo players will have to wait just a little longer.

Dying to play

The eve of Dying Light 2: Become Human is basically here, with the game set to launch on February 4th, 2022. The sequel to Dying Light promises a larger playground to run around in, and what looks to be a more detailed narrative with some star-power behind it.

Scheduled to hit the full array of modern platforms, Techland had previously all of them to arrive day-and-date with one another. But, as apocalypses will often force, there’s been a change of plans.

While the rest of the release dates are unchanged, the Switch version will be a while longer.

In 2021, Techland welcomed Nintendo Switch owners to Harran with the release of Dying Light: Platinum Edition. Many new survivors dove in to experience Dying Light for the first time in preparation for Dying Light 2 Stay Human (Cloud Version), and the community’s warm reception affirmed something Techland has always believed: quality matters.

In order to provide fans with the gaming experience at the level they deserve and that Techland wants to provide, Dying Light 2 Stay Human (Cloud Version)’s release date on Nintendo Switch will be moved. Techland is asking Nintendo fans around the world for their patience. Upon the game’s release, players will be able to experience Dying Light 2 Stay Human with flexible handheld gameplay at its best with Nintendo Switch, powered by Cloud Technology.

Note that DL2 on the Switch is a Cloud Version. That’s exactly what you think it is, and streams the game to your Switch console via an internet connection. Could that have something to do with the delay?

That, we don’t know, and as you can see Techland doesn’t point to exactly why the publisher is delaying the title. Not that it matters much though, as the end result is the same.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will land at retail for the PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5 on February 4th. Stay tuned for more on that eventual Switch launch.
