The modern Shadowrun is getting an updated Trilogy pack for consoles

Fantasy meets cyberpunk sci-fi in the modern Shadowrun series, and now that reborn classic is getting a complete “Trilogy” port to consoles.

Slain by an elf

Shadowrun, of course, was first released back in 1989, though that was the tabletop game. Not that a video game was far off, debuting on the SNES in 1993. A role-playing game, Shadowrun introduced players to a tactical world where cyberpunk aesthetic met what could only be called a fantasy world.

And while the original title had come and gone, that world was reborn with Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes’ Shadowrun Returns just a few years ago. SR updated the game for new PC’s, and spawned a pair of sequels with Dragonfall and Hong Kong.

Now all three games are being bundled, and finally migrating to modern consoles. But these won’t just be straight ports, as the trio will get updated graphics, as well as performance improvements, and controller optimization.

Here’s a look:

Originally funded via Kickstarter in just 28 hours, and the first Kickstarter-funded game to launch after raising over $1 million, Shadowrun Returns is a story-rich RPG with turn-based tactical combat set in the celebrated Shadowrun universe. Designed by Jordan Weisman, the creator of the original Shadowrun tabletop RPG, Shadowrun Returns released to critical acclaim for PC and mobile platforms, with two sequels released shortly afterwards. The standalone sequels, Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut and Shadowrun: Hong Kong – Extended Edition, join Shadowrun Returns as the Shadowrun Trilogy, coming to console platforms later this year.

Paradox Interactive press release

Look for Shadowrun Trilogy to arrive some time later this year for the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
