The Army of Darkness marches on Evil Dead: The Game as a free update

Ash’s time-traveling adventures have finally made the leap into Evil Dead: The Game. Expect new weapons, a new map and mode, and more.

Now send me back, like in the deal

Well now, this is a pretty big time update here for Evil Dead: The Game. Not only do players get to experience the world of MGM’s Army of Darkness, but they also get a bunch of new stuff included.

The Army of Darkness update delivers Castle Kandar, the setting for the majority of the film, but again there’s a lot more to it. Not only does the Castle appear, but so does the Windmill, the Arthurian Outpost, Fort Gort and Castle Kandar’s Keep.

On top of that, there are two new weapons to brandish, with the (slow but hard-hitting) mace and the (slow… but hard-hitting) explosive crossbow. But wait, there’s more as Exploration Mode arrives as well with this one.

The Exploration Mode grants the player the ability to venture out into any of Evil Dead: The Game’s maps solo. While it doesn’t sound like there’s any real purpose to this wanderings, you’ll be able to get the layout of the maps down, and even take on some roving deadites.

Army of Darkness is now available to add onto the base Evil Dead: The Game, for Xbox and PlayStation platforms as well as the PC. It’s a free update too, so no additional purchase is necessary.

In addition though, there are some new cosmetic items out, and those will cost you a bit. Available ads a part of the Season 1 pack, or separately for $2.99 USD each, or in the Medieval Bundle for $7.99, the new stuff includes:

  • Henry The Red’s Scottish Vibe Outfit
  • Lord Arthur’s Battle Prep Outfit
  • Spoil those Survivors’ good looks in style with the Gilded Attire costume pack for the Necromancer Demon army, including Evil Ash, along with a new Screamer jump scare image for the Necromancer Demon
